Maury Gortemiller Lecture in NC

The show Mockingbird at Brief Gallery in Nashville, featuring work by William Eggleston, Alec Soth, and APP photographers Shawne Brown, Tammy Mercure, Mike Smith, and Mark Steinmetz, got a very favorable review at Nashville Scene. Posted December 7, 2009.

Mockingbird Exhibit in Nashville

Shawne Brown, Tammy Mercure, Mike Smith, and Mike Steinmetz of the APP will be showing at Brief Gallery, 238 5th Avenue N., in Nashville from November 7 - December 15, 2009 with a reception on November 7th from 6-9pm. The show highlights contemporary photographers who have worked in the state of Tennessee and also includes work by Tim Davis, Alec Soth, and others. More info can be found at Brief Gallery's site. Rob Amberg Book

Rob Amberg's book "The New Road: I-26 and the Footprints of Progress in Appalachia" published by Center for American Places will be available in bookstores in November. There is an exhibition of photographs, including installations and photographs from work in progress, and a book launch on November 7, 6-9 pm, at the Madison County Arts Center in Marshall, North Carolina. Mark Wood Exhibition

Close To Home: Art Exhibition Reception & Lecture
Close To Home, an exhibition of the works of Chattanooga State photographer Mark Wood and students, is on display October 10-November 23, 2009, in the art gallery on the second floor of Kresge Memorial Library.

A reception will be held October 14 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a lecture at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Posted October 12, 2009.

HATCHfest Asheville NC I April 15, 2009

Blue Spiral Gallery is presenting the photography portion of the inaugural year of HATCHfest. There is a reception on Wednesday, April 15, from 5-7 pm and will run until May 3rd. Six of the eight photographers are APP members. They are Ken Abbott, Rob Amberg,Eric Baden, Cathryn Griffin, Mike Smith, Mark Steinmetz,and Jeff Whetstone. Also showing is Jody Servon.
